1962
Before 1962 650 US. men worked in South Vietnam. In 1962 president JFK raised that number of people working there to 1,200. This was not including training and supporting South Vietnam’s army. So there was many US. military and non military men working in Vietnam. The United States were involved in the war because the French (our allies) helped us out in a war so we are helping them out in World War II.
October 1962
After we were helping fighting in South Vietnam with the Tet Offensive, 1001 American men were already killed and 2082 South Vietnam men were killed. After the Tet Offensive the United States were focusing on leaving Vietnam. Back in the United Stater people were chanting, “Win the damn thing or get out!” The president had to step in to control that scene.
1968
Okay so the first big battle that really happened in the war was the Tet Offensive. This was one of the most decisive battle of the Vietnam war. The Tet Offensive was the North Vietnamese (communist side of Vietnam) attacking the South Vietnamese (anti-Communist side of Vietnam). This was a really hard time for Vietnam because the country was split in half. How difficult was that for Vietnamese people you might ask? Well, to send letters South Vietnamese had to go through them. Even if you had family on the other side of
